I know this is a broad type of question but what do you think is the average payout on affiliates if you lump them all together.

For instance I have a product that I could affiliate out but the payout would be something like $.50 per transaction. Would that be enough to an affiliate person to even consider?

sure,
if there is enough of a market for the affiliate to sell enough to make decent cash (even if it is 50c at a time)

I think it's doable, as the PAX said, if the potential volume is enough and if conversion is easy enough. I've seen mail order companies pay out $1.00 to affiliates for every person that signed up for a free catalog through their affiliate link. Does anyone remember freemoneymakingmagazine.com? They also paid out $1.00 on any referrals to their site where they gave away one free issue of their magazine. So, I think an affililate program could potentially work, depending on your product/service.

Humbly,
Trevor Dean

It really depends to be honest. You need to look into that before you actually sign up for the affiliate. If you feel it isn't worth your time - so be it...move on and find a different one.

I'm affiliating with HostGator right now and it is paying $50.00 minimum per successful sale...and that is only on the 1st tier. I believe they have up to 3 tiers where you can make up to $100.00 per sale.

There are a number of programs that have a payout of between .25 to $1.50 and mostly these are strictly for pay per lead (PPL) programs. Like, i know this one forum that pays out .75 for each referral you send their way and then there are magazines that pay out per lead as well. So they do exist. Is it worth it to an affiliate to promote these types of PPL programs? It depends what market an affiliate is in, for example someone who markets books, might do well with a magazine PPL program. So really it varies, but if someones traffic is big enough, they could do OK with it.

If the conversion is good, then a lower payout is okay. However .50 is still a little low. The email submit and zip submit offers payout upto $1.25 simply for the submission of an email or a zip code. So, the requirements to constitute a transaction would determine the conversions, and thus, the success of the campaign.

Well I could offer anywhere from .10-.30 for just entering in name/email for the product. But per transaction the requirements are a bit higher but the payout could be .50 and every time the person has another transaction it would still be under their number.

Azoogle pays around 1.2-1.4 per zip/email submit so I think 0.1 to 0.3 would be very low and would not attract people.

I suppose it could be done. But do you really want to spend the time for so little return. It would need to be something very unique.
