I have set up an Opencart website.
It has an Affiliate system built in.

Where is a good place for me to advertise that fact ?
So that I can get some affiliates.

Try some "make money from home" type forums......
Some allow you to simply post ads....

Not quite sure I understand: You set up an affiliate program or you set up a site with a bunch of affiliate links?

Try finding other sites, forums, groups, social networks, etc. where others share your same niche or may be interested in it. Preferably find other sites, forums, groups, social networks, etc. that will give you a do follow link as well.

I don't have opencart website but I do have blogs and they are not hosted in free hosting sites so I am also looking for same answer like Digmen1. Bookmarked this topic for the future. Hope, some members will provide valuable information on this issue. It will help me (Novice affiliate) to learn more. Hats off to Jim Gillum for small hint.

Yes, you can start a thread in the Marketplace, which is allowed.

There are many places to promote affiliate sites/business.

You can participate in affiliate forums as well. (wikedfire, warrior etc.)

You can create regular blog based on your affiliate products (it would also help in getting visitors from search engines).

I would recommend that you submit your affiliate program to as many affiliate program directories as possible. You can get good services to do this for you quite cheap, about $49, and it will put you in front of affiliates. These directories also lend credibility to your offer.

One of the best is Associate Programs. It takes a little while, but it's popular with affiliates.

Also, post in forums that allow you to list your affiliate offering. They may charge you, but it's worth it if you get a good forum. Try Digital Point.

Try to find social networking sites that deal with business and join the affiliate marketing groups within those networks. There you will find people interested on affiliate marketing.
