I created a category in my Pinterest account that links directly to my website. It really boosted the views to my website, so I would suggest giving that a try.

"Hits" are a meaningless metric, and "traffic" without conversions is useless.

I read somewhere that Pinterest viewers are much more lily to buy than Facebook viewers

If you get hits (aside from automatic ones etc) then it means there is some interest in your service or product.

Theory of pinterest is different than other social media sites,Although you get some traffic from that but i'm not sure about your point of view.
