It depends on what type of site it is. I used to make over 1200 dollars with adsense, adsense then started to ban chat sites from their program so i found affiliate marketing and now I make way more than that on a single domain. Im sure though that it all depends on what type of site you have, the traffic, and traffic source. etc.
I like Affiliate marketing and I am making a good amount from affiliate. I try to register in Adsense several but rejected, I don't know why. Now I am happy with affiliate and it giving me great out-put.
You can use both Adsense and affiliate as well, or you can use any, depends on the site but Adsense is for all types of site except gambling, adults etc.
If you are using Adsense then you have to follow their guidelines strictly for better result.
Affiliating marketing required fully professional websites with tons of targeted traffic from search engine.If your site will not attract much than you didn't covert traffic in to profit.On the other hand you can earn from adsence without fully professional sites.
Affiliate Marketing is not so easy than working with Adsense. But I think affiliate is the better way to earn good money than adsense. I have worked with Google Adsense for 3 years but did not get good result but now I am working with affiliate marketing and earning really well. It's my second month with affiliate marketing and I am happy with it and thinking to leave adsense totally. It's real hard job to generate sell or registration in a website but there have lot's of ways you know to generate good sell in a month. If you can do so then the commission is real handsome. If you are working adsense currently then I will suggest you to start an affiliate program besides of your adsense. I am sure you will be happy after two months.
