Hello, yeas, you are right ...AdSense is good to use when site is young and domain is young , as well. When your website is more mature, then use both AdSense and affillliate. It all depends on the topic of the site and how you are going to divide your space. I always try to not overload will all that ads , etc. Many visitors are "blind" for ads on sites, nowadays.Be carefull with quantity of ads.
I do not use any pop-ups or splash pages, I hate all that stuff.

If I have a site & I cannot find any affiliate product to promote then I will go with adsense, put up nice content, keep it neat, & work on my traffic.

Adsense is the best way to make money online. But, due to a lot of spammers who were earning a decent money. Google has made it very strict nowadays and a genuine blog or website can only make money through it.

In my opinion both have there own urge and importance. As you can say that human mind is most difficult aspect to be understood and the mind-set are also different, in that case everyone have there own view for adsense and affiliate. It not matters that which is the best, but which is working more best for you.

By the way, you can't put adsense ads on pop-up page. It is against Google TOS.

To me, I would use both as they are equally good.
Is a matter of the strategies we want to use.
And also are you comfortable and know how to use them?
At the end of the day, is all about traffic and conversion determine how much income we are going to have.

I use adsense but I don't get that great of returns off of it, affiliate sales get me a far bigger percentage of my income, but they take consistent work whereas adsense are put on the site and other than a little tweaking from time to time they take no work.

Well depends on your niche. If you adsense CPC is above $1 then its fine, but what about other niches where CPC is dirty low like $0.05-$0.20? I'd rather choose affiliate marketing in most of the cases.
Another thing, adsense has started banning users for silly reasons as well. S watchout when you cross that $300 a day mark

I use both and adsense works best atm, but if you want to really make some money you should find a company that buys adspace directly from you.

Some affiliate programs pay a fairly high commission so you can potentially make some decent money. However, it seems people do not sign up or purchase what you are promoting as often as you would like. Since you can earn per click with adsense you can see that you are earning something in the short term.

Hello, mpw45233.
You can easily combine adsense and affiliate programs on a large scale. And nothing has a real privilege here - "click prices, traffic, type of website...", except your target audience I think.
If your traffic is highly converting, than I suppose it's worth promoting affiliate products. But if it vice versa, you better concentrate upon google ads. In any case you can try both, just remember one thing - do not overdo
I reckon it's good to start practising with adsense embed in the body of your posts (at the beginning or somewhere in the middle of the article), which (articles I mean) in their turn can be aimed at promoting affiliate goods.
Check out my example here: http://e-opportunities4u.blogspot.co...ke-best-e.html. Perhaps it's not so demonstrative, but still is better than nothing...

I also chose the affiliate route initially I think that most people do. That was until I found a network of related keywords that were easy to rank for, got good traffic, and were getting paid at least a $1 per click. And those types of addenda sites take just a couple days to make in most cases. I'll actually go after like 0 different keywords for each niche. I then hire an article write to write a 750 worded article on each and then use those as the 10 pages. Interlink all of my sites - get links through forums and social media and a few articles each and you're good to go in the top spot.
As you said then you don't have to worry about making sales - just getting clicks.

Adsense is great to start with if you use a high paying keyword, but promoting affiliate programs should be the next stop. After which you could move to having membership sites for passive inflows. Having many Adsense websites in Great Niches can do the magic.

Yes, you get more money from an affiliate sale. But with Adsense you get paid for just a click. Sometimes I get paid $2 for just a click when the affiliate product sells for $5, which I would get a 15% commission from.
This is because, some of my Adsense advertisers are experts at upselling. I don't know how to upsell. So I give them the lead for $2 and they do with it what they can. I think that's fair.
