I want to go into affiliate marketing as i have heard that it hold a lot of earning potential for the hard working affiliate.
I have searched and come to know some affiliate networks like Shareasale,CJ,Amazon, and a host of others. As i don't know much about affiliate marketing, the thought of going into it and making real cash from it really daunts me.
I was wondering if any one here who is into it and is quite successful could tell me which network is the best and how to join them.
I will also like to know how to promote them.i came across the "Super Affiliate Handbook" by Rosalind Gardner, how good is the book and how do i get it?
Please i need honest opinions and help tips, thanks.

Hi Eduoku!!
I have tried a couple of affiliate programs.
Some of these does not teach you the full insights of the business.
Most of them require you to keep upgrading which also means spending more money before you start earning.
I have tried a couple of them but getting frustrated as i need to spend more and more. They keep asking you to upgrade.
I have tried the Art Of War System.
On my review, it has step by step guide almost an idiot guide to help you through and on top of that they have tools available for users to help them earn and promote.
To date, i have earn USD$13,000+ for the last six month. Not a huge amount like some people. But really worth looking at it.

affiliate programs are very profitable if you know what you are doing. It requires great ad placement on sites or well thought out PPC campaigns on Yahoo, MSN, or Google Search / Content network. If you are looking for some tips i would start out here at Zac Johnson's website. He is one of the best.

Out of all them you have listed I would choose ShareASale. I have been with this ever since I started and have not had one single problem with them. I have always received my earnings on time, everytime and they also have a nice selection of merchants that you can use on your site.

Well, there is potential. You may ask yourself why businesses share they profits instead of keeping all... The answer is: outsourced advertising, flexibility etc. If you pay for your webtraffic (for example google ads) its sometimes very expensive end it is better to pay affiliate the % of profit. Sometimes even affiliates become customers. Be aware of programms where you have to pay for registration - these are mostly scams. Fair webmaster would not take money (to give permition to promote etc) in advance but gives you money for your job! Actually I am running one perfect affiliate (promotion of mp3 downloads) but its invitation-only scheme. cooperationinfoline@payway.in

i Think Linkshare is a great place to start, Lots of Subjects , Poor commision and payouts but the affiliates on there are larger affiliate Companies like Kmart Radioshakc, toysrus etc..
Its a good start because you can find Targeted affiliates For your website

I have had experience with Clixgalore, Linkshare and Commision Junction.
The Linkshare and Commision Junction experiences have been very positive to me and I really can't recall any negative experiences that they did do promptly resolve via timely responses to emails sent to them.
In my opinion Clixgalore does everything they can to drain funds from affiliate accounts. They tout the ability to create multiple programs combined under one account but do not clearly state that each account has to reach a separate minimum balance before funds are distributed. There is no facility to combine account balances.
Retailers state on their affiliate pages what their payout percentage is per sale (use 25% for example), the Clixgalore description also states a 25% payout yet they credit you with 20% on each sale and then refuse to respond to e-mails you send to them asking why.
Somehow completed sales by people you know or items you order for yourself are not credited. You email Clixgalore asking why or to investigate the merchant... Again NO REPLY!
You see 'pending' transactions in their reports. To me a pending transaction says the buyer has completed the transaction and made payment but at the end of 30 days you see a huge number of 'Customer did not complete transaction' statuses... mind you these are not cancellations but 'never completed transaction indications'. A Transaction should be reported separately if the customer has not made payment. There have been months where over 50% of these phantom transactions did not complete and I am sure that the 'scholars' at Clixgalore know that many web masters will throttle their advertising throughout the month based upon potential revenue based upon the pending sales reports.
My personal experience has shown it is very rare to see cancellations and returns through programs such as Linkshare and Commision Junction... at least for the products I advertise on my websites. Somehow Clixgalore has worked up some type of “black magic” reporting system where a huge percentage of reported 'pending transactions' end up being 'incomplete'.
Recently, I ran a test splitting the traffic for a merchant who was participating in both the Linkshare and Clixgalore programs. Linkshare's percentage of non-productive transactions was just a small fraction of Clixgalore's.

Hey eduoku,
I would checkout Clickbank, it's free to set-up an account and you can look at a bunch of products that have affiliate programs that are free to join.
You may want to first get some knowledge about affiliate marketing and how it works, checkout BigSellingAffiliates.com and they have a free intern program that goes step by step to help you.

I have spent a lot of time on different affiliate forums, and with the affiliates I have started to acquire in my own campaign, I definitly say you can be successful. It's about understanding that you won't be successful imediatly, you have to take all of the necessary steps and understand the time and usually money it will take to bring you real success.

Go for Clickbank - they are reliable and they pay regularly. Go for products with a gravity of between 20 and 40 and pay a minimum of $20 in commission.

Been doing affiliate marketing for 8 years and have another suggestion...try never to accept a program that pays under 15 percent. It helps rule out a lot of losing programs.
Be prepared to work awfully hard...but the rewards are well worth it.

Just remember that there are a lot of people making $500+ a day, but they are also spending $500+ (grossing $1,000) a day for adwords and other payperclick services

I have had absolutely no success with affiliate programs-- and I have belonged to the big ones. I am not sure why.
Q...

I am still pretty new to the game and I know I could do a lot better when it comes to how much I make but I must say that it has been good so far and I cant complain. It has involved a lot of experimentation and as the weeks go by I have learnt a thing or two to increase profits. But, there are so many programs out there that you could get snowed under if you are not careful.
