I've been doing the whole internet marketing thing for a year now. I know you're probably thinking that I won't have too much to share, but I'll give it a shot anyways.
I'd say the old quote "Jack of all trades, master of none" describes me and my online ventures nicely. I wouldn't say I'm great at coding, photoshop, or even marketing. I know a little bit of each and that's been enough to get me by so far.
I started in the blogging area after seeing a link to entrepreneurs-journey.com on AOL while I was checking my e-mail. I wasted a couple of months blogging and was only making a couple bucks or less a day which didn't satisfy me.
Next I went for forum and community building. Learning from Lee's forumtrends.com. I loved the thought of having your members help build your content and site. I learned an lot there and launched a couple of communities which brought me in better income than blogging, but I still wanted more.
Eventually I came across affiliate marketing and CPA after reading through some different forums. It was really the fact that I saw payouts of $20 per lead instead of 13 cents per click that really pushed me to try affiliate marketing.
After a lot of wasted money on PPC, testing different offers, I came across my first lump of gold on Commission Junction. Diabetes Testing Supplies. When I saw that first check my motivation grew. I started promoting web hosting offers which was highly profitable and it still is today. From there it just clicked and the ball started rolling. Testing promising offers and squashing any that were low performing. I became like a machine, almost addicted for a few weeks.
I joined AzoogleAds, MaxBounty, CPAEmpire, NeverBlueAds and more CPA companies and started comparing all the offers they had - looking for high payouts and under saturated markets.
When this was all said and done I ended up having my first significant month and making about $3,000. This may not be a big deal to super affiliates, but in my eyes it was a great success.
My goal is to keep motivated and continue affiliate marketing until I reach $7,500 per month. Hopefully I can reach or surpass this goal in my 2nd year of internet marketing.
