I have had to scan a picture in two halves as it was too large. Both halves have jpg extensions. How do join these to make the whole picture again? Please help!!

You just make a new image big enough to fit both and then open both files and drag them into the new image (just click on the images and drag my friend). And then you can even them out to fit right.
