I have been looking for a tutorial for Photoshop to create a fade from a photo that will blend into the background. I want to get rid of the 'hard' lines on the outside edges of the photo and have the whole photo blend into the background. But, keeping the photo as visable as possible. Does anyone know of a tutorial for this, or a simple way to do it?
Thanks! Cindi

yea easily, what you do is, you click the photo layer, go to the top toolbar > layer > add layer mask > now u shud have ur color one black which shud be default, then you just grab your gradient tool (make sure its on transparent) , and fade where you want it to be, BLACK HIDES, WHITE SHOWS, so to make it come back just simple use white

Here's a quick way to do this, assuming you have the picture in a separate layer above the background (set to the BG color of your choice)...

1) Open the canvas up to fullscreen, so you have a lot of grey around the picture, you may need to zoom out to do this

2) Select the eraser tool, and pick the largest feathered brush you can

3) Select the layer with the Picture and in the gray area (not in the actual picture, outside of it) click and slowly move in towards the picture. You should see the edge start to disappear faintly, showing the background layer.

If too much disappears, use a smaller eraser brush. If not enough, move closer to the picture. Keep clicking to increase the fade.
