I have designed part of a logo in MS Word and I want to be able to amend it by adding colour, style etc and generally play around with the idea however I am not sure how to transfer it to Photoshop? It is saved as an MS Word file, I am new to doing this sort of thing so any advice would be appreciated! Also, would Photoshop be the ideal program for doing so?

Cheers

I would just save it in lots of different formats and then try opening them in photoshop. Apart from ms word file Photoshop will probably open all of them.
It would be best to compare a few against each other to check for quality anyway. Especially if your logo is colour.
I'm sure you can just copy and paste.

Can you not just copy the image in Word, then create a new document in PS and paste it?

You're best bet would be to just recreate the logo in Photoshop. That way you'll have control over all the text and elements. If this is not an option, you could either:

1) Save the Word document as a PDF and open the PDF in Photoshop, or

2) Assuming you're on a PC, take a screen capture of the logo in Word by using the Print Screen key on your keyboard, then in Photoshop go to:

a) File -> New (to create a new canvas)
b) Edit -> Paste

And you should get an image with your screen on it. Use the Crop tool to select the logo and get rid of the stuff you don't need

Make sense?
