You might need to use one of the versions of Adobe Acrobat to make edits. If it's just the one time you can also grab a free 30 day trial to make the quick change.
I don't use PDFs a lot, but I would guess there are also some free alternatives you can find if you search. You do need something more than the Adobe Reader though.
You could get some OCR software i think. I think it stands for Optical (something)0 Recognition. I could be way wrong but I think I remember something about that.
You definitely need either a full version of Adobe Acrobat or some other PDF editor.
