Ok, I downloaded a template from templatemasters.com to play with it, because it seems that there are thousands of templates from various sites that are made with photoshop.

I know how to make the slices, rollovers, imagemaps and all that. I can make a very nice site in photoshop, but what I cannot figure out, is how to make the text I put in the content areas, export (in ImageReady) as HTML, with the same formats, sent in CSS.

Meaning, when I download these templates, they have the site already done and exported in HTML, CSS and images. I have the .psd file so I can change whatever I want, but how did they export the HTML with the text having the SAME format as they made it in Photoshop? I see the optimized settings and save as CSS -> by class, but that still did not work, even when I edited the slice and made it No Image. If I put the content of the text into there, it is not formatted, if I leave that field blank, then there is nothing in that slice in the HTML page.

so, how do they do it? I would appreciate any help you can be )

Thank you much,
Richard

If the PSD file is using non-standard fonts, you can't make it look the same in CSS. For example, you might like that GringoNights font, but very few people except font junkies (like me) will have it installed. The only way then to make it EXACTLY like it is in the PSD file would be to put the graphic of the text into the HTML - which isn't good practice.

The other alternative would be to use the SIFR method.

The SiteGrinder Photoshop plug-in, which I wrote, can convert styled text in Photoshop directly to styled HTML and CSS. It doesn't use slicing or tables for layout, but instead has you name layers according to their function on the web pages (button, menu, etc.). The output is always XHTML 1.1 valid. It can be used as a complete web tool, but, personally, I find I use it a lot more as a sort of starting place to initiate a site and then take it into emacs or DreamWeaver to finish.

We just released the 2.0 version, it has a lot of new features and some major improvements.
