Tutorials are good for one shot instances of effects, it will not teach you the whole breadth of features that Photoshop is capable of.
There are many books on PS, the "Bible" books are excellent. My best suggestion to you would be to go to one of the big booksellers, like Borders or Barnes and Noble, take a few of the Photoshop books off the shelf, and sit down and flip thru them. When you find the one that suits your style of learning, take it. Not all the books are written the same and not everyone learns the same way. I don't like the O'Reilly books, for instance, because the way they're written doesn't suit my learning style.
