I can do basic html, and i realised that if i wanted to go any further in making websites i will need to know how to make pictures and that. I have photoshop 7.0 (not sure whether thats good) and well i cant make head nor tail of it , i tried some online tutors but they didn't help, could you guys (or gals) point me towards a tutor who works or give me some tips or something.

Hmm, the only tutor I really know of is experience... Photoshop can be a hard progfram to learn if you only do what tutorials tell you to do. I never even TRIED messing with a tutorial until I could do that main basics, and knew my way around the program. What you could do though is find a site that explains each tool: http://www.gslis.utexas.edu/technolo...cs/photoshop7/

There is a good BEGGINING know-how type tutorial.. Give that a peek and then ask additional questions when needed..

BTW, any version of photoshop is an excellent program. You have chosen well.

Try this site. http://www.vtc.com/files/productdeta...ealercode=A337
Most of the tutorials are Quicktime videos, so they are easy to understand. This will give you a good start. You should also go to this site http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/forum.asp?forum=1006
and go on the "retouching" forum. It's much better than this forum, the people are helpful and know what they are doing.

When I learned Photoshop 7 it was quite hard to get around at first. Stick with it and soon you will know what to do.
The best two pices of advise is to one, look at tuatorials in depth from http://www.good-tutorials.com they have some very nice stuff on there.
secondly when you get the hand of it look at other peoples work from banners to edited images and try to see what they have done to it and how it can be inproved.(remember no one image is perfect).
Hope this helps Ryan

Photoshop 7.0 is really good. I've got photoshop cs2 but its not a big difference. When I first learned i used a series of tutorials that teach you only certain things but if you do alot of them you become experieced in using all the different tools and eventually you have some pretty good knowledge of all the tools and features of photoshop. Heres the site... www.greycobra.com click on photoshop tutorials in the navigation bar.
