My sister is using PS6 and claims her history palette is missing. She can say she wants to see it in the window and the x clicks on and off but she can't see it. I had her try minimizing stuff, and shrinking the screen in case it is lurking off screen, but she says she still can't see it.

She thought there was some magic button to push when PS was loading that would return things to its factory settings. Does anyone know of such a button, or have any idea why the history palette can't be found.

To pull up history (per photoshop cs / Macintosh):
Photoshop CS
Window>History

Reset palettes:
Photoshop CS
Window>Workspace>Reset Palette Locations

or you can delete your preference folder for Photoshop. This will reset ALL of your preferences for Photoshop. Weither your on a Mac or PC. For mac, map back to your systems folder>preferences>adobe (photoshop) then drag it to the trash and empty.

For pc, you should find where your preferences are on your computer. The adobe folder should be stored here, then delete it.

hope this helps

Thanks Crittle. She did know about turning it on and off through the Window. I had Googled and found one reference to preferences and how to reset by eliminating the folder, so I had passed that on to her. I know I looked at the preferences in CS and really didn't see anything in there where you would get rid of the history file.

She really thought at some point she knew of a key she could hold down to reset the whole thing, but I don't see any reference to it.
