I'm trying to make a website for myself and was hoping to use photos as buttons. Rather I should say parts of photos - if it's possible. For example, I'd like to take a sliding board out of a photo of a playground and convert it into a button/link to other pages on my site.

Don't know if it's possible, but I'm sure that someone here knows. Thanks in advance for any help or tips that you can offer.

Best regards, Prozac

you want to cut the sliding board out of the picture and use it as a button or make only part of the picture a link?

For the latter you can use image maps, what program are you using?

Yes, it's possible and not too hard to do. You isolate the image, size it, and then use the various layer options to make it look like a button. The biggest challenge is getting all the images about the same size so it looks consistent. Put your cut-outs on a transparent background so you can easily change backgrounds later.

See http://www.georgespangenberg.com for an example of pictures used as buttons. I was pleased with how it turned out -- it added a bit of interest to the site, particularly for history buffs.
