Hello,

I have a graphic in Photoshop that I am trying to save as a TIFF or JPEG, so that it can be used in Pagemaker. However, when I place the image in a Pagemaker document, I get this white box around the boundaries of the image. Is saving as a GIF the only way?

I was told to use paths, but I have a drop shadow that is creating problems and I am not sure on how to use paths with this...if this is even the correct way to do it.

Here is the image:

Any help is greatly appreciated.

personally, i try to avoid layer effects completely if at all possible

to get around the drop shadow problem, select the cube (command + click on its layer, or ctrl if you use windows), created a new layer beneath it, and fill the selection with a light grey, move it down and to the left a few pixels, feather the edges a bit if need be, and you've got yuorself a drop shadow that's easier to manage

do you have inDesign? cause inDesign can deal with PSDs (i think)

can't you match the canvas/doc colour in PS to the destination canvas/doc colour? e.g. if the page your putting it on has a blue background then put a blubackground in the photoshop image.

Thanks guys!

- I actually ended up using clipping paths with the help of Photoshop help file...saved as a TIFF.
- However, for my client to use this graphic in Powerpoint, I have found that I need PhotoDraw. Reason being, Powerpoint doesn't support clipping paths or other alpha/transparent solutions. Microsoft says to work around by using PhotoDraw (in Office 2000 premium edition) by opening graphic, copying, then swithing windows and pasting. The white background stays out apparently.
- I wish I could simply create with a colored background (thanks davemies), as this is the standard approach, but my client wants this file to be used at will on any piece she creates.

Now, I have to find PhotoDraw

Cheers!
