taking color out of a picture

how do i take all the color out of my picture making it black and white (grey scale)

From the top menu with your file open... Image - Adjustments - Desaturate....

or you can adjust the hue and set them to 0 i think but desaturate works too

if you're using photoshop the simply Image > mode > greyscale

if you're not using photoshop the what are you using?
