So why take the job if you cannot fulfil the requirements?

Unfortunately the Employer has made some requirements which you would need to comply.

I do have a suggestion, maybe purchase a copy of Corel Paint Shop Pro, you would be able to transfer your .cdr files into Paint Shop Pro and be able to change the files to a AI, EPS, PSD, JPG format.

Better yet, if you can't afford Photoshop and Illustrator now, use GIMP and Inkscape, both of which are free, and can handle all of the above file formats. GIMP functions much like Photoshop, Inkscape much like Illustrator. Both can save to Adobe's formats.

Much as you may like Corel Draw, it is not the industry standard. I hear this time and again from people mired with using Quark when InDesign has long since taken its niche.

it's a long time since i used corel draw but if you can COPY your data as vector you should, hopefully, be able to paste it as a smart object in an open new photoshop document.

So why did you get the job? What I mean is, look for a client that seeks to your ability.

If graphic artists spent their time looking for clients who are seeking their ability they would never find any work. Besides this isn't about ability its about the program that wil be used for the work. If an artist doesn't know how to use a specific program, its not a reflection of their ability. It simply means they're not familiar with the program but can still be quite capable of doing the work.

That being said however it is a good idea to become familiar with Illustrator at the very least Shayotto because Illustrator is an industry standard for vector artwork (specifically logo design). Also Illustrator converts easier into the other formats.

You're almost never going to get 100% conversion when converting to Photoshop. I don't know why but it just is. You can come close though. Here's what I advise.

You can download photoshop and illustrator each for a free 30 day trial at adobe.com. Do one at a time don't dl them at the same time because it will shorten the time you have with each one. There are thousands of free beginner tutorials on the internet for both programs. Use them to familiarize yourself with them.

You probably don't have the time to do that for this project but it's something you can do later. As far as converting the files it can be done. From Corel to Illustrator you should first save a file to the Corel EPS format. Then you can import it to Illustrator. Another way is to convert the Corel file to a fully editable PDF document and you can open it right up in either Illustrator or Photoshop and work from there.

If it doesn't convert you might try doing a legacy EPS save in Corel first. Make sure the Illustrator is version CS2 and up. If you dl the free trial it will be CS5.5 so you're ok there.

Good Luck

if you are easy to work with corel draw then i recommend you to complete your basic design in corel draw but in layers. Then you can export it as .psd n open it in photoshop and finalize it with photoshop effects touch. But i also recommend you to learn adobe applications bcz if your work related to machining work then corel draw is the best but if you are a web/print/application designer then you have to switch to adobe applications.

Is there a reason why you posted the same thing that everyone above already said?

Thank you Mystical Pippin I wanted to ask the question about logo design software and your post has the answer.

I will check Illustrator and see if I can get used to it.
