I love Photoshop and have used it since 2.5, but they have found a way to make my life just a bit harder. If I create a JPG from a PSD they feel the need to add 'copy' to the file name. Over time this creates more work for me. Under no circumstance do I want any program to ever append the name of one of my files!!! There is no possibility in overwriting my file sine it has a different extension.

Is there a way to defeat this ghastly BUG???

Uncheck the box that says "As a copy" on the save dialog.

What Chris said or rename the file. Pretty simple.

What I do is use "Save for Web" when saving JPGs, PNGs, etc.
It has more options for optimizing when saving in these formats too and replaces the spaces in filenames with hyphens (which is good when uploading these online).

EDIT: Apparently turning off the "Enable Version Cue" box in "Preferences -> File Handling" disables this too.
