Hey everyone,

I have photoshop 7.0

I am making a website for myself, so I downloaded a few templates. They come with PSD files that include menus and stuff. My problem is that I would like to edit the text in the psd files but I do not know how. Any help is appreciated.

Press the button T (I think so) and then you go to the text and press, so you'll be able to change the text. When you've finished all that you'll have to make your website in pictures, and you can do that with the button that looks like a little knife. Later you can put it together in a html editor, like Dreamweaver, MS Frontpage, etc.

I don't know how far you are right now, but if help is needed, just ask at any time.

Hi there, I know that many psd templates are locked, i as much as the "text" on buttons etc, is actually a graphic and therfore uneditable unless you recreate the graphic itself. If you want to email me a template, Ill have a peek for you. Photoshop is my baby!

Cheers, scotia

When I design a site I make the "image" in Photoshop. And after all is done I cut it and put the pieces in Dreamweaver. I think you shoudn't care about editing the text in Photoshop. Delete the unnecessary layers and change the layout as much as you like it. I'm not a fan of using the templates exactly as they are. After that cut it in little pieces and put it together in your editor.

consider designing the site yourself, try to make a copy of the templat ebut change it up some.. use your own color scheme and all. It will really help your PS skill as well as improving the overall feel of your site. Template websites can feel to generic.. if you can do it by yourself its better

if you still are set on using that template try to cover the text my moving the layers around or hiding the text layers and use your own text..

hope this helps

The way certain templates are coded can make them hard to edit. Do you need to edit the text in the psd or the html files? I assume the template is already coded? If so...just open up the index.html file with wordpad or another html editor and change/replace the text with your own.

I like when I find people who love what they do. I hope you'll take the time to see if you can help me in my PSD problem HERE. It has to do with roll-over buttons and an existing PSD file that only produced one side of the image when I edited it.

Thanks,

Grump
[edit]Never mind, I got it figured out. Thank you.[/edit]
