Hey, that's an interesting bc. No joke I would be original and use that. I'd admit it's a bit screwed, but give it a shot. Use it for something.

ok here is a better version i did, all on one layer, first with the marquee tool top, with a gradient, then with the pen tool for bottom, carefully outlining the bottom circle again. i did add strokes, and fill, and burn and dodge tool for the pen area. then another elipse for the ad on it, with gradient, pen tool curve with text along it, and perspective text using text-rotate, then layer type convert to shape, edit transform perspective, then layer rasterize shape. and i wash finished. i did have to blur the edge of the pen tool and the circle top since i wasnt great with the pen tool . here are the better results. derek

Much better, but it still looks like the crimped edges are not 'attached' properly, almost too far under the top section. Much better work though.

Have you considered making a circle, the ctrl+t to transform, ctrl and click the select points to shift the perspective. id use bevel etc to make it look a bit more realistic than simply burning the edges, the tutorial pic looks too flat and old gif clipart style (unless thats the look you want?)
