Is there a way to make a linear gradient that gradually phases the layer into invisible? I'm trying to make a reflected image of text. Instead of tapering the reflected layer into the background color, I want to fade it into transparency. See attachements. (I'm using Photoshop Elements 5.0.)
Thanks!

I'm not sure about PSE5, but in Photoshop, when you're creating the gradient, you can change the opacity of the gradient colors to anything you want to make it go to transparent.

I found this http://www.photoshopatoms.com/tutori...g-glass-balls/ I think you should be able to make the gradient the way you need it.
