Hi, I am trying to achieve something which I would have perceived as being v simple but cannot work out how to do it!
I have an image in jpg format which I want to form the background of my photoshop image - the thing is I want the image tiled, like you can do for the background in Word or as wallpaper on your desktop. I have spent ages trying to do this to no avail.... is there anyone who can point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance

Sacha

I'm confused on what you are trying to do. At first when you said tiled I thought of the background on web pages which is repeated over and over. That takes a program (like a browser) to do.

If you just mean that you want it as a background with other stuff on top when you do layers in PS you get that. Just make the image your lowest layer.

I realize I must not be understanding your question, but maybe you can go from here.

yes I want the image repeated like you can do on a webpage. But I am producing a flyer to print not for posting on the web.
the image itself is square and depicts four blue tiles - I want the background to my flyer to be a continous repeat of this image so that it looks tiled! I will then layer photos and text over the top.

Open the image that you want to tile then goto edit and select define pattern, name it and select ok. Now you have a pattern defined that you can use to fill the background. Open your flyer file and create a new layer (if needed) and goto edit and select fill. Now under the use: pull down select "pattern" and then under custom pattern select the pattern you had created and then select ok.

If the pattern isn't lined up the way you want it, I would suggest creating a new file that is larger than your flyer filling a layer in that file and then dragging it over to your flyer file and moving it into a position you like.

Hope this helps
