I started visiting a few tutorial sites like pixel2life.comphotoshopatoms.com and pslover.com. Just start in the beginner sections and follow the tutorials. I like to use my own pictures while I am working. It is like anything in life the more you mess with it, the better you get.

Lynda video courses are really good if you are beginner, good and fast way to get accustomed yourself with all tools and functions in photoshop. Later on you can experiment yourself, try to do some photoshop tutorials
lynda and total training both have good video tutorials ... if u new have no clue what to use and how two use go for any of them ... videos are better then text for starters ...
I'd follow tutorials if I was a newbeginner with "professional" intentions, if else, I would go with the "play around" mode. It's way more relaxing and pleasant to discover the program, step by step as problems come on the way.
the best way to learn photoshop is to take the tutorials and apply it. ask also some tips and advice on your friends who is a graphic artist or somebody who knows well about photoshop. goodluck
In my opinion the best way to start learning to use Adobe Photoshop would be to experiment with different tools and stuff. Sooner or later you start developing your own styles. Once you know all the basics you can start looking at tutorials. You'll be a pro in no time
just don't hesitate to experiment on it. design some graphics for personal use, or for your friends. as you go along with it, you'll start leaning new things step by step. It would also be helpful to check out some online tutorials to get some tips and tricks in designing.
I think, you should purchase first the software and you should use it regularly. After learning the basics of photoshop, try to look for a tutorial which can help you alot. here, wanna try this??

I agree! Lynda tutorials are the best. They explain anything in details, like how the filters work, how you should use them, etc.
Free tutorials sites usually help you with examples of design..but Lynda tutorials will really help you learn Photoshop 100%
