Hello to all,

Well the web is a blessing and a curse all at the same time. You can as a webmaster provide great content and find some great resources. But when you are working on your own sites, it seems like nothing works.

So I am looking to ask guidance from someone who has or does work on making web templates out of photoshop. I look at like template monster and other sites that have a psd page and then an html page. What confused me is if you make your design with menus and navigation as a psd, how do you edit them so that they work? Like rollovers and such.

I know this might be asking a lot, but maybe you know of a site or would be willing to teach me for a price.

Thanks for all of your help.

Colochris

You would have to use the slice tool to cut out parts of the image (usually nav menu links) and double click the slice you made. From there you can add a title and link (which create an html page).

For more info you can search for photoshop slicing tutorials, hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your insight. So after the slice, would you add the text with photoshop and then edit it in dreamweaver?

For Roll over nav menus - after you create your 'on' and 'off' images and slice them you'll put them into your web page (with DW or whatever editor you use) then you need to add java script to make them move.

Here's a Tutorial - shows the whole design process and a tut for the js.
