I have been runnung photoshop 7.0 on my laptop everyday for months with no problem, yesterday when I tried to start the program it would start the loading process and then shut down when it got to color preferances, I have checked for viruses, there where none and I have unloaded and reloaded the program 6 times. Imageready 7.0 will run and photoshop 5.0 will run but photoshop 7.0 will not start. PLEASE HELP I am running out of ideas...

Delete your preferences. I've seen this before.

There's an easy way to delete your preferences file on startup of PS.

Press and hold ALT+Control+Shift as you start Photoshop. You will be prompted to delete the current settings.

Are you holding it down WHILE PS is starting up ???

The alternative is to look for the preferences file itself.
If memory serves me right, it's called default.psp and it's buried under Documents and Settings/your profile/application data/adobe/photoshop/Photoshop settings.

Delete the file, then restart PS.

First you remove the Photoshop from you laptop.
Then type in run command "regedit" ENTER.
Click on HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT select .psd folder and delet it.
Then restart your laptop then again install Photoshop 7.0
enjoy your self.

That's overkill just to delete preferences.
