Hi everyone, I have a problem which is driving crazy.

I have recently upgraded from PS7 to CS3 so I am still getting familiar with the new workspace.

I have been trying to use my brushes to stamp around a digital scrapbook layout but the brushes just plainly refuse to stamp.

The only time it is working is when I take the "paint bucket" fill in the background with some other color than white then I can see the brushes stamping properly. It does not work with Jpeg patter paper or photo.

It works only with the paint bucket. I really don't know what's wrong.
Greatly appreciate your help and input. Thanks !

Are you trying to paint with a layer style ? That's what it sounds like, and that explains the apparent need to have a solid color fill.

Are you sure you have the correct layer selected when you're trying to stamp ? What are your brush settings ?

Hi there. I am not quite sure.

I have never used layer style before. Do you think I might have activated something by mistake ? How can I check that ?

My brush preset is showing as "normal".

I think I am stamping on the right layer as long as I fill that layer with the paint bucket.

The stamp color is alway white as if it is picking from the background instead of the foreground.

Thanks for helping !

Yes, that sounds like you've got the layer style option turned on.
The paintbrush should paint in only the foreground color, the top square of the two in the bottom of the toolbox.

Select your brush tool. Open or select the layer styles palette and make sure that the 'no styles' (white box with a red line thru it) is selected. Then try stamping again.
